Pay it forward or paying it forward refers to repaying the good deeds one has received by doing good things for other unrelated people.-- Wikipedia
I will send a gift to the first 5 people who leave a comment here on my LJ.
I don't know what that gift will be yet, but you will receive it within 60 days. This may end up being almost anything. It could be a gift box, a hand made craft, a thrift store/garage sale find, a drawing, a book, a photograph... anything. Rest assured, you will receive something!
The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making a similar agreement on your journal.

Ladies and Gents!
I mean to start writing in this again, but I think I need more of a private thingy, also I need much less temptation to keep up on other people's lives through a "friends" page rather than real contact, so I've done a bit of pruning. I hope I haven't offended anyone, I mostly just unchecked friend boxes with a certain random and chaotic disregard for any pattern. If you feel like you've been wronged, or if you really really wanna hear my stupid bullshit drop me a line in someway to get yourself added.
Lurve, John

Hey all,
I'm heading back home soon! I'll be shipping (read: Bussing) down to london tonight, then a full day perusing the wares in the wonderful city, then bright and early on friday I hop on my Virgin atlantic flight, throw on headphones, and let the miles fly past.
I can't wait to be home, I've missed it so much!

GOD I'M TIRED...maybe it has something to do with the lack of sleep last night (~45 minutes at most) and the partying yesterday. I went to Ellie Thomas' wedding up in Yorkshire (good friends). It was amazing, but completely completely draining. I suppose it didn't help that instead of doing the sensible thing and going to sleep, I stayed up talking to a new acquantince until brunch in the morning. Good fun, good times, good food, good mental health.
That is all.

Ride Wit Me - Nelly |

Hey all,
Blah blah, apologies, blah blah, notmuch updating, blah blah.
Anywho, life is...interesting. I'm currently between exams (namely between my first two and my last three). My next exam would be philosophy of emotions, which means I'm currently going completely off my block. It's not hard, it's just dumb. Not to mention my professor is currently in his first term of teaching, so his style is uhh....well I want to be nice so I'll say idiotic. After that it's Shakespeare (I should read up a bit, but when am I ever going to complain about reading S'peare) and The Hindu Tradition, which I loved so I listened so revising is not a huge deal. I've decided from that class actually to add "Attend the Jagannath festival" to my lisst of "things to do before death."
Let's see, what else. Well not to sound like I'm not enjoying it here, but god am I ready to be home. Everyone's so English! Nah that's not it, I dunno I'm just missing the creature comforts of home. It's like....alright imagine that you went through your entire day not seeing any of your friends, like not that they were avoiding you or anything, just that your paths didn't cross. Now multiple that by about 150, and you'll see why I'm a little...tired. Not to mention (at least today) everything seems to be mildly collapsing. Well that's hyperbolistic, not everything, but some stuff that shouldn't mean much to me but does. For instance, there was supposed to be a bbq tomorrow that I was excited for, but it got changed to Friday, when I will be up in Yorkshire. Also, I was trying to schedule a foreigners feast for sunday at my digs, but a whole bunch of people just backed out. I was expecting one of them too (she's uhh...well I'm not that sad) but the other ones are a bit of a shock. Oh well, what happens happens. Oh a plus note I get to go to a wedding this weekend! I think it'll be my first ever actually, or at least within memory. Back sunday, studying 'till I die, then the exam blitz. After I get to party, juggle, and drink until the 6th, then down to London, and out on the 8th. I'm going to miss it here, but right now I just feel like I'm springting to a goal if-ya-know-what-I-mean.
On the plus side, I found a good retailer for the fire poi, fire balls, glow rings, and knives I intend to buy and play with in the states. It'll be far too long before I can afford it all, but I'll slowly accumulate kit.
Alright, gotta bounce I'm meant to be on my way to Cookie Club for some good old fashioned boozing and shmoozing. Maybe I'll even find a cute girl to flirt with ^.^ Don't give me that look, I just like flirting.
Love, John

I know, I know, I don't update for a long period of time. I skip entire steps of my journey and entire weeks of my life here, and when I do update, it's a book list, but I prefer telling stories in person. If you want to know how England went, or is going I suppose (I'm still here) you should try to catch me in a chatty mood over coffee or a drink or something, it's not too difficult ^.^ For now, I need to put down my book list somewhere so I can check back when I have some time. If anyone has any recommendations or critiques of the books, by all means let me know!
All the Harry Potters from Order of the Phoenix on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (again) Picture of Dorian Gray (again) American Psycho Through a Glass, Darkly Paprika Shakespeare (The Pete Ackroyd one) DDI (but that's going to wait until I'm in a bio class again) Hamlet (again)
Haha wow I like repeats apparently. Alright that's all for now. Life is good. It's boring, everyone's doing work and my work is almost done, but meh at least I'm not panicking. Jugsoc tonight, the room is closed because of bank holiday but we're grabbing drinks from the arc and chillin' out on the grass. Hope everyone is good!

Peaches - Fuck The Pain Away (screw you Paul) |

So it's not natural to travel from 5-6 ft of snow to lying on a beach in 5 days, let alone having time in Rainy london in the mean time. Well I'm in Nice now, imposing (yeah imposing, I refuse to accept any other term!) on Christine and Nadia's hospitality (I haven't seen Nadia since High School, it's kind of odd). I'm here just chillin' out and exploring Nice with Christine until Sunday, when I'm off again for Budapest. I got my tickets today, which makes me quite a bit more relaxed. I head from here to Milan and Venice (just stopping in) before a sleeper car train to Budapest (Keleti Station, or Kelepi one of those). I'm in Budapest for umm 6 days I think? Until the 14th when I grab another sleeper car for a trip to Rome. Wee!
Stuff has been good though, I'm still averaging a little over a book per city (The Prestige, The Testament of Gideon Mack, King Rat, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, The Virgin Suicides, and now I'm on The Poisonwood Bible) but I still manage time to see everything. In London I just kind of perused the city. I found an amazing bookstore near the natural history museum (2.99 per book, and 3 for 2 deal). I went into the Victoria and Albert collection Museum, which is one of the few sites I've never been to, and I gawked at Big Ben for a bit of time, it's hard not to. Then I met up with Joe, we toured Oxford Circus and Carnaby Street, then went to a comedy show (after a nice bit of Sake and Onigiri in the Chinese/Japanese area). Nice has been wonderfully lazy, I'm totally indebted to Christine for a bit of slow down and crash time.
I know I haven't written that much about Norway here, but there are so many things I wouldnt even know where to start. Umm I suppose I can summarize: It's Beautiful, Bergen is amazing and I want to learn Norwegian so I can live there, Oslo is a big capital city but has it's wonderfully odd areas, and I'm super sad that I had to leave. Also I bought a shirt in Oslo, it has a cheese plane on it, it's wonderful (though a bit tight on me, Large my ass. That was an exclamation of annoyance btw, not a command).
Love from beyond the grave ocean, John

Wow I don't know what says more, the 140 movies that I've seen or the fact that I actually took the time to do this. I dunno there's something kind of soothing about just going through a list and checking things off. Stuff is being rocky in England. I'm having fun, but when I don't have anything to do I have a propensity to get a bit homesick. You guys rock too much, that's the problem. Be less cool...

Hey all, I hope that your V-Days were good, and don't give me that "I'm alone" whiny stuff, love isn't only about relationships. Anywho, I was hoping you guys could lend me your voices and possibly discuss with me something that might turn into a paper over here in the next couple weeks. I'm taking a Human Nature and Evolution class here, and the essay topic I want to write on is "If we evolved through natural selection, does this in itself limit our capacity for free will?" Now here's my thesis (tell me what you think if you don't mind taking the time):
“By extending the principle of Natural Selection beyond its formal biological borders we witness a dichotomy form in human evolution. Along with the traditional biological evolution seen in all organisms, human consciousness can be said to evolve through a system based on the development and spread of cultural ideas and concepts. By including this second level in our analysis of human evolution we find that our capacity for free will is by no means limited, but indeed is relied upon for the development and propagation of variation within the ‘genes’ of our culture”
P.S. I love how the "presents" on the main page of Livejournal as I signed in were A Black Rose, Diamonds, Candy Hearts, and Panties. Oh livejournal you truly cater to the freaks and hopeless romantics, all at once.

Into The Ocean - Blue October (don't laugh, it's not bad) |
] |
Hey all,
So this week may have actually been the most stress inducing week in all of existance. First off, I've only recently been able to actually juggle my classes into some sort of viable set, although I'm still up in the air as to one of them. Alright well I think I'll write down the bad things, then we can end on the good ones, sound good?
First, it has become obvious to me that I am allergic to England. Well not allergic, but it would appear that the weather enjoys punching me in the skull. I have a pretty serious cold right now, but I'm just trying to medicate and power my way through it, hopefully I'll get used to the grey chill weather (I kind of like it honestly, but it just plays havoc on my senses). With this head cold, I also found that the bus to and from Sutton Bonnington campus (a ~25 minute bus ride) doesn't come anywhere near when my class ends, so I ended up standing out at a cold bus stop for far longer than I would have liked, which was a bit miserable. Also, I've run in to quite a few issues with monetary transference between the US and the UK. Apparently when my band said "you can use the atm card" what they meant is "you can ONLY use the ATM card, and even then there's a cap on it, so you better watch yourself". Oh well, I called them today and haggled my way into a bit better of a scenario, plus my landlord is pretty cool, so he doesn't mind if this first rent is a bit later. He's actually a hillarious guy, though not on purpose if you know what I mean. He informed me that me and the other "chaps" needed to sweep up the leaves outside and haul them off to the dump because it was "more of a chaps job." The map he drew to the dump is hillarious, and I nabbed it as a souvenir.
Alright there are other bad things, but I'm not in a bad mood, so let's go to good. First off, that ride to the Sutton Bonnington campus is hillarious and a little scary due to the fact that you pass a MASSIVE nuclear power plant (6 cooling towers!) in the middle of these huge fields. That's what I love about England, there isn't enough room to spread out, so the empty spaces are periodically punctuated with the most bizarre things. Another good thing is that I won a free month long buss pass! When I was walking through our commons (the Portland Building) the other day to guys from the uni radio station came and asked if I wanted to participate in a trivia thing about the buses on live air. It was the little like "get involved!" fair so I decided, "well fuck it" so I went with them. Turns out the ONE bus ride I took the day before was enough to answer the questions. They all seemed rather surprised. I also decided that my room was too plain, so I put up my pictures and bought a poster (half off!) of my favorite artist, who I didn't even know had done a rendition of the intro of the fairies from Midsummer Night's. It's really nice, pictures to follow later.
Also! They have Darwin on their money!
Love, John
P.S. My ipod broke :-( I'm having withdrawal, I may need to get it fixed or get a new one

Hey guys, sorry I'm paying for wireless time so I didn't have a chance to create a contact list for e-mails yet. I sent one out to my family though, so I thought I would post it on here and hopefully it'll reach a good number of you. Pass the word on if you know someone who isn't my LJ friend but wants to read these posts. I'll leave them open to the community at large, just tell them to go to http://www.livejournal.com/~nofacespirit
Hey guys,
Sorry to make this so rushed, I'm kind of working on borrowed time so to speak...err or bought time? Anyway, point is that wireless connection at the hotel costs money. The flight really wasn't so bad, I read for a while and listened to music, then I actually got to sleep for a good amount of time. The person sitting next to me was a charming woman from the west coast who was heading on her way to Cape Town, kind of made my little venture to England seem pretty bland. But anyway, sleep was good, and when I landed I had no trouble making my way to the hotel. I even got bumped up to a higher...class?...of room because on the reservation I had requested an early check in time, and they had no singles ready, so they charged me the single fee and now I have a slightly nicer slightly larger room with (best of all) a Queen sized bed. I went for a nice long swim to get the blood running, and then just came upstairs and vegged out (aka napped like it was my job). Now it's bordering on dinner time so I think I will go and check out the restaurant downstairs then nip into the bar (a very hip bizarrely colored and slightly skeavy hotel bar named "The Pulse"). Oh actually, that reminds me. Right after checking in, and at this point I was reasonably jet lagged and cramped, I headed over to the elevators, sorry "lifts", which looked perfectly normal from a distance. However, when I entered them, there was this pulsing rainbow ambient light. It turns out the "Park Inn" chain has this whole big "Put color into your life" ad campaign going, so everything has this mood lighting. It's a bit much on my fragile brain pan right now, makes me wonder how much of the hotel is actually mood lighting, and how much is my brain just going with the flow. But anyway, sorry I couldn't call, this didn't seem like the best place to *cheaply* try. I will keep an eye out though. I believe I know where I'm going tomorrow to meet up with the coach, but I'm going to give myself plenty of time to find my way. Anywho, I hope all is well in the states, I had a couple of hard tired and missing you guys moments a bit earlier, but some reading, a cup of tea, and a bath seems to have lifted my spirits. I'll send word again when I get the chance, which should be upon arrival at 6 Humber Rd tomorrow! I'm so excited!
Love, John

Two points of interest that I felt I should bring up with my estranged LiveJournal buddies.
First off, the Hamlet project is on the eves of it's lift off, and now's the correct time for operatives to step forward. Leave me a message or IM me if you want to join in.
Secondly, in the true vanity of college I think I want to try to get a pass-it-on story going on livejournal. In this, I would start with the beginning of a story, then it would be passed on among people playing (serious or funny, but try to write well) and we'd see where it ended up, interested? I'm thinking of starting a couple at once to let everyone do it.
Toodles!
